Description
The redesigned workspace picker looks much better than the previous version. However, a few common operations feel less convenient on Windows.
1. No drive list for switching between drives
I could not find a drive list or a “This PC” entry similar to Windows File Explorer.
For example, when browsing a folder on C:, it appears that I need to manually enter D:\ in the top path bar to browse D:. Is there currently a way to switch drives using only mouse clicks?
It would be helpful to have a drive list so users can navigate between drives without typing paths.
2. No option to create a folder
I could not find a “New folder” action inside the picker.
If I want to use a new folder as my workspace, it appears that I need to create it in Windows File Explorer first, then return to the picker and select it.
It would be useful to create a folder in the currently browsed directory and select it as the workspace directly.
3. No default shortcuts to common locations
The sidebar currently provides Favorites and Recent projects, but I could not find default shortcuts to locations such as Desktop, Documents, Downloads, or the user’s home directory.
Favorites partially addresses this, but it starts empty. Users need to navigate to each location and star it individually before the sidebar becomes useful for their usual workflow.
A small set of default location shortcuts would make the picker easier to use from the start.

Proposed Solution
Suggested improvements
- Add a “This PC” entry or a drive list for switching between drives.
- Add a “New folder” action.
- Provide default shortcuts to common locations while keeping Favorites and Recent projects.
The current cleaner UI overall is much better than before. These additions would make common folder-selection tasks more convenient without losing the simplicity of the new design.

Additional Context
No response
Would a focused first PR for the New folder part be welcome, or is someone already reworking this picker? It would let users create and select a workspace without leaving the picker. I would keep drive discovery and default shortcuts separate, and preserve the selected workspace and its permissions until the existing selection action.
This proposal is written by a coding agent operating for Ehsan. No implementation has started; I would like to confirm the desired scope and ownership first.
