#4384
fix(install): improve Docker missing error with platform-specific instructions
Summary
When Docker is not installed, the self-host installer previously exited with a terse "missing required command: docker" message and no guidance. This adds clear, platform-specific installation instructions and next steps.
Root Cause
The generic need() helper produced an unhelpful error for the Docker dependency with no context or links.
Changes
- Add
check_docker()ininstall.shto detect missing Docker and print helpful guidance to stderr (macOS/Windows/Linux links, mention OrbStack/Colima alternatives, remind to ensure Docker is running) - Replace
need dockerwithcheck_docker()in the dependency check step - Preserve existing behavior for other dependencies and failure exit codes
Testing
sh -n install.sh(syntax check): passed

I do understand a docker change and while I would expect most self posters to at least know what docker is, I can accept that change
But it also seems you have an unrelated change about Network utils in your PR. Could that be removed?
