#738

Ignoring `PERF_RECORD_BPF_EVENT` and `PERF_RECORD_KSYMBOL`?

OpenGitMenschopened 1y ago

As seen in #513 perfparser knows about those events (printing its names), but does not handle them.

Those are the kernel notes on their addition which includes notes about their use and related structs: PERF_RECORD_BPF_EVENT PERF_RECORD_KSYMBOL

Question: Should (maybe only one of) those be silently ignored (I can provide a PR for that) or be actually handled (=backlog)?

Background: both of those may be "spawn a lot" in bigger traces and "flood" the output.

Do they though? I haven't seen them spamming, as such I am going to ignore them for now. Please spend some time yourself to assess the situation to figure out whether we want or need to support these.
