vphone 2.5.0
Core Bundle
- Guest audio on iPad and iPhone guests. (#555)
- Sound from the guest plays on the Mac. A CoreAudio plugin for the guest's virtio sound device,
VPhoneVirtIOSound.driver, is installed bysystem-virtiosound-cfw-hal_plugin, and VirtualAudio patches keep its routes up on a device with no codec. - The guest's volume and mute change what the Mac plays, including from Control Center on iOS 27.
- Apps in the guest record from the Mac's microphone. Voice Memos records on iPadOS 26.6.2 and iOS 27.0. The Mac's microphone is open only while the guest records.
- Tones play: the haptics node is removed from every guest's device tree, since a VM has no actuator.
- An existing machine gets the audio patches with
cfw update-environment, one boot and one restart.
- Sound from the guest plays on the Mac. A CoreAudio plugin for the guest's virtio sound device,
- A guest player's sound stays with its picture when the Mac plays through AirPods or other Bluetooth output.
vphone-vmsends the Mac's output latency to the guest, and the guest reports the latency the host actually queues. (#564) - The standard preset lets daemons and command-line tools on a 26.x or 18.x guest open the paravirtual GPU, video decoder, Neural Engine and IOSurface scaler. The patch is renamed
kernel-exp-paravirt_user_clients→kernel-cfw-paravirt_user_clients; remove the old name from a machine'sPatchSelection.plistif you enabled it in 2.4.2. (#562) - cameracaptured no longer crash-loops at boot on a 26.x guest, which froze SpringBoard when an app started recording. It hit a bug in the paravirtual Metal driver while prewarming shaders, and
libvcamcapturednow skips that prewarm. (#565) vphone-cli vm leaseslists the shared network's DHCP leases and who owns each.--release-orphans(root) removes the expired leases of guest MACs no machine uses any more, which had pushed new guests' addresses towards the top of the range. (#563)- The guest's
vphonedupdates itself the next time each machine starts.
Launchpad
- Each VM starts through
vphone-launchpad-launcherin Launchpad's app bundle, so macOS asks for the microphone and location once, for Launchpad, instead of again for everyVPhone.bundlebuild. (#561) - Host Setup > NAT Network shows how many orphaned DHCP leases there are, with Release…. Also
vphone-launchpad-cli vm leases [--release]. (#563)
Upgrading
Launchpad 2.5.0 needs VPhone.bundle 2.5.x. Download the notarized vphone-launchpad-2.5.0-notarized.zip, then install VPhone.bundle 2.5.0 from Core Bundle and move your machines to it with Change Core Bundle…. Launchpad 2.4.x does not work with this bundle. The vphone-launchpad-2.5.0.zip built by CI is unsigned.
