Rikugan v1.2.1 Release Notes
New Features
Research Mode
- New /research command that performs goal-driven deep analysis of a binary and produces structured documentation. Unlike exploration mode (which gathers context for the agent), research mode outputs
- Obsidian/Logseq-compatible Markdown files into a notes/ directory — building a persistent knowledge base you can browse, link, and search outside of Rikugan.
Bulk Renamer
- Agent that batch-renames symbols across the binary using subagent orchestration. Configurable batch size and concurrency limits in settings. The tools panel is now embedded as a Chat|Tools tab in
- the sidebar for easier access during rename sessions.
API Key Encryption at Rest
- All stored API keys can now be encrypted with a user-provided password using AES-256-GCM with PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256 key derivation (600k iterations). When enabled via the "Encrypt API keys with
- password" checkbox in settings, plaintext keys are zeroed out in config.json. The password is required on every session start and is never persisted to disk. Degrades gracefully if the cryptography package is unavailable.
- Fix version on loading logging, remove comments from requirements (fix binja plugin manager install)
