Summary
A clean artzy/OmniRoute v3.8.49 instance routing Claude Code with model: auto selects oc/mimo-v2.5-free. The upstream now returns HTTP 410:
Model mimo-v2.5-free has been deprecated. Use mimo-v2.6-flash-free instead.
This is not only a v3.8.49 snapshot issue: the current release/v3.8.53 OpenCode Zen registry still includes both mimo-v2.5-free and mimo-v2.6-flash-free, so Auto can continue selecting the known-deprecated ID.
Reproduction
- Start OmniRoute with a fresh data directory and no configured providers.
- Send a tool-bearing Claude Code request to the local Anthropic Messages endpoint with model
auto. - Let Auto select
oc/mimo-v2.5-free. - Observe upstream 410 and the replacement-model message above.
Expected behavior
- Remove the deprecated model from the active OpenCode Zen candidate catalog, or map the deprecated ID to the supported replacement where compatibility requires it.
- Ensure Auto no longer selects a model after the upstream reports it as deprecated/unavailable.
- Add a regression test for the active candidate catalog and replacement behavior.
The full v3.8.49 request also encountered OpenCode Free client-contract 403s and other unavailable candidates. Those broader first-run/client-contract reports are tracked in #15059 and #16328; this issue is specifically for the still-registered MiMo 2.5 model returning 410.
Activity
3This report was filed in the wrong fork. The user is working from artzy/OmniRoute, so the correct report is https://github.com/artzy/OmniRoute/issues/58. Closing this misplaced copy to avoid tracking the same report in two repositories.
Correction: this parallel report is intentional at the user’s request, so it should remain open. The companion report is in the artzy fork at https://github.com/artzy/OmniRoute/issues/58. Both repos are being asked to help with the local Claude Code + free auto failure; this is not a request to bypass provider client restrictions or terms.
Request: help make Claude Code usable on a free, compliant route
The immediate user problem is broader than the stale MiMo ID: I am running the
artzy/OmniRoutev3.8.49 checkout locally and want to use Claude Code withANTHROPIC_MODEL=auto, without an OpenAI API key. My fresh local instance has zero configured provider connections. The README advertises Claude Code support and a free first-run path, but the request currently exhausts the built-in candidates:mimo-v2.5-free, 410), or OpenCode-only client-contract rejection (403).Could maintainers please provide a concrete, terms-compliant way to get Claude Code working for free through OmniRoute, or clarify exactly which free provider/account setup is required? If no supported free upstream can serve Claude Code, please make the onboarding/README state that clearly and provide the supported alternative. Please do not solve this by impersonating OpenCode or routing through a provider whose terms prohibit third-party proxy use.

auto/ README expectations), #16328 (OpenCode Free client-contract rejection), and #17472 (stale MiMo candidate).
