#4180
Improve UI/UX to clearly indicate app creator and pricing information
Problem
Currently, when viewing apps in the Puter ecosystem (particularly on https://apps.puter.com/), it's unclear:
- Who created the app - Whether it's from the official Puter team or a community/third-party developer
- Pricing information - Whether an app is free or paid
This creates friction for users trying to understand the origin and cost of applications they're considering launching.
Context
Based on the file src/backend/controllers/homepage/HomepageController.ts, the app metadata structure supports displaying app information when rendering app shells. However, the current UI/UX doesn't leverage this to make the creator and pricing status prominent.
Proposed Solution
Improve the app display UI/UX to clearly show:
- Creator badge or label - Distinguish between official Puter team apps and community-contributed apps from third-party developers
- Pricing indicator - Clearly display whether an app is free or paid (and ideally the price if available)
- Developer/Publisher info - Show the developer/publisher name or link to their profile
Example Implementation Areas
- App landing page (
/app/:name) - Add creator badge and pricing information to the app card/header - App marketplace listing - Add visual indicators in the app list view
- App metadata store - Consider extending the app metadata schema (if not already present) to include creator type/verified status and pricing information
Expected Outcome
Users can quickly and easily identify whether an app is:
- Created by the official Puter team
- Created by a community member or third-party developer
- Free or paid
This will build trust and transparency in the Puter app ecosystem/marketplace.
