The last release, 1.3.1, is from 2025-10-17. Twelve commits landed since then, and most of them add hardware that 1.3.1 cannot identify:

Why this matters
The device table is not optional data. idevicerestore identifies a device
in DFU mode with irecv_devices_get_device_by_client(). If the model is not
in the table, the lookup fails and the restore stops with "Unable to
discover device type".
So a user with a 2026 Mac cannot restore it with any released version of the stack. The git version works, but distributions package releases. This is the main reason people are told to build eight libraries from git.
The IOKit service lifetime during KIS retries fix also improves DFU
reliability on macOS, which is where most Mac restores happen.
Suggested version number
1.4.0. The new device entries and the new functions for async requests add to the interface and remove nothing, so a minor bump fits.
Context
libimobiledevice/idevicerestore#805 proposes a 2.0.0 release of
idevicerestore. That release has to declare a minimum version for
libirecovery. Today the newest value it can declare is 1.3.1, which does
not know any 2026 hardware.
