The live documentation at https://gpui-kit.com/docs/installation/ (and related Getting Started examples) still recommend:
gpui-kit = "0.6"But the example code uses the 0.7 API, including:
open_window(WindowOptions::default(), cx, |_, cx| {
cx.new(|_| HelloWorld)
})This causes a compile error for anyone following the docs:
cannot find function `open_window` in this scope
not found in this scope (rustc E0425)Changing the dependency to 0.7.0 makes the error go away.
Expected behavior
- The published docs for the latest version should show a matching version requirement, e.g.
gpui-kit = "0.7"(or"0.7.0"). - Example code and the declared dependency version should stay in sync.
Actual behavior
| Item | Live site | Reality |
|---|---|---|
| Dependency in docs | gpui-kit = "0.6" | Latest release is 0.7.0 |
| Example code | uses open_window(...) | Only available in 0.7 |
| Result | compile error | fixed by using 0.7.0 |
Source status
The Markdown source on main is already correct and uses the template placeholder:
gpui-kit = "{{gpui_kit_version}}"See: https://github.com/longbridge/gpui-kit/blob/main/website/docs/installation.md
The problem is that the published website for the default / docs is still serving a stale build (or an incorrect GPUI_KIT_VERSION / snapshot).
Related: #3210
Steps to reproduce
- Create a new project following https://gpui-kit.com/docs/installation/
- Use the documented dependency
gpui-kit = "0.6" - Paste the Getting Started example that calls
open_window - Observe:
cannot find function open_window in this scope - Change to
gpui-kit = "0.7.0"→ error disappears
Suggested fix
Rebuild / re-publish the latest documentation so that {{gpui_kit_version}} resolves to the current release (0.7.0) for the default site at gpui-kit.com.
