#3347
input: Descenders (g, y, p) clipped at the bottom in single-line inputs
Description
In single-line Input fields, glyphs with descenders are cut off along the bottom edge of the control. Most visible in the URL bar, but it affects every Input rendered at the default Size::Medium — including headers, query params, auth, and environment variable inputs.
Environment
- GPUI: v0.3.7 (gpui-pre-* crates — the published family; gpui facade via gpui-kit 0.7.0)
- GPUI Component: v0.7.0 (gpui-component), with gpui-base 0.7.0
- Platform: Windows 11 Home Single Language, build 10.0.26200 (Insider), x86_64/AMD64
Steps to reproduce:
- Open a request playground.
- Type text containing descenders into the URL bar (e.g. https://api.todos/juggy-ping).
- Observe the bottom of g, y, p is sliced off.
Screenshots
Expected: descenders render fully inside the input at the default font size, without increasing the control height.
Actual
In single-line Input fields, glyphs with descenders are cut off along the bottom edge of the control. Most visible in the URL bar, but it affects every Input rendered at the default Size::Medium — including headers, query params, auth, and environment variable inputs.
