For example, when installing the yt-dlp package which depends on deno and python3.14, the current implementation creates a symbolic link in the prefix/bin directory: deno -> /var/home/xyz/.local/share/zerobrew/prefix/Cellar/deno/2.7.12/bin/deno. Furthermore, the shebang of the yt-dlp script still points to #!/var/home/xyz/.local/share/zerobrew/prefix/Cellar/yt-dlp/2026.3.17_1/libexec/bin/python. This feels problematic as it both pollutes the global environment (causing conflicts with the system's deno) and is cumbersome to implement.
If we could implement a shim layer, installing yt-dlp would only produce a single yt-dlp shim file in prefix/bin. Inside this shim, we could define alias deno=xxx; alias python=yyy; before calling the actual binary at /var/home/xyz/.local/share/zerobrew/prefix/Cellar/yt-dlp/2026.3.17_1/bin/yt-dlp. Wouldn't this approach be much cleaner?
