Windows master mute causes streamed audio to jump to full volume instead of muting.

Bug Symptoms

While streaming from Vibepollo 2.0.1 on Windows to an Android tablet, Windows' master mute function does not work correctly. Clicking the mute button or pressing the keyboard's mute key causes the streamed audio to suddenly become extremely loud, equivalent to if the volume was set to 100%. However, the Windows volume slider remains at its previous position and still displays the muted icon. The master volume slider also sometimes responds slowly or requires repeated adjustments by jiggling it back and forth around a few points before the volume will actually change.

Steps to reproduce: Start a stream using Vibepollo with Steam Streaming Speakers as the Windows default output. Play audio through audio player, browser viewing YouTube, or a game, etc. Set Windows master volume to approximately 30–50%. Press the keyboard mute key or click the Windows master mute button. The streamed audio becomes extremely loud despite Windows displaying the muted state.

Troubleshooting steps performed: Reproduced using Artemis, Artemide, and official Moonlight clients on Android. Individual application volume controls, including their mute functions, work correctly. Setting Steam Streaming Speakers' volume to 0% under its device Properties → Levels tab correctly silences audio, but its mute button reproduces the problem. Tested automatic and manually specified Audio Sink configurations. Restarted the Windows Audio service without improvement. Confirmed Steam Streaming Speakers driver is installed correctly. Updated from 2.0.1 to 2.0.2-nightly.d20261030.r.1.45109fb4fb38

Expected Behavior

Windows master mute should silence the streamed audio, and master volume adjustments should respond normally.

The archive confirms the October 30 nightly (45109fb4fb38) on Windows 25H2, base build 26200, capturing stereo audio from the Steam virtual endpoint. It does not include endpoint mute/volume transitions or PCM levels, so it cannot yet explain the reported loudness jump. The capture path passes WASAPI loopback samples through without applying its own volume boost.

Could you provide the full OS build from winver (including the revision after 26200.) and the Steam Streaming Speakers driver's provider, version and date from Device Manager? Those details are missing from the archive. Please also note whether spatial sound/audio enhancements are enabled for that device and whether Steam Remote Play was active during the affected session. No need to reproduce the loud output again to collect those details.

For now, avoid using the affected Windows master-mute button to silence the stream; the application mute or device Levels setting of 0 that you already verified are safer workarounds while this is investigated.

Winver: 25H2 (OS Build 26200.9711)

Steam Streaming Speakers: Provider: Valve Corporation Date: 7/20/2017 Version: 17.56.13.764

Spacial sound is set to off. No Enhancements tab is present in the device's properties, and I couldn't find an Audio Enhancements setting in Windows Settings either.

Steam is installed and running (tried to see if closing it had any bearing on this bug, it does not). Remote play is enabled in the settings, but I have not used that feature and didn't have a session of it running.
