#16137
mimetype pdf isn't checked/ set when browser is set, allowing other browsers to set the default
System details
Omarchy 4.0.4 - no pdf viewer installed
What's wrong?
Prelude
-
Using zen browser (omarchy default browser zen) without a PDF viewer installed; pdfs opened with Zen since it's the only application that supports them
-
Then I installed librewolf via flatpak for a test profile
-
Open a pdf through Files (nautilus) or xdg-open ($ open my-doc.pdf)
-
It opens in librewolf (flatpak); opening the browser if it wasn't open already
Expected behaviour
- When zen is installed through omarchy default browser, it should check if the mimetype is setup in ~/.config/mimeapps.list or equivalent location (under [Default Applications], named application/x-pdf ). a. If it is already set, check if it's another browser omarchy supports and replace it if so b. If it isn't set, add application/x-pdf=zen.desktop
- Check this periodically such as when updating the browser
- When another application is installed, hopefully it detects you have a pdf set and won't replace it (investigate upstream flatpak and librewolf if behaviour continues.
