[Windows][26.1027.30824] Existing Codex cloud chats missing from desktop sidebar while Chrome works

Openflocrossbridgeopened 9h ago

What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

26.1027.30824, reported by the owner from the installed Windows application. The application reports being up to date.

What subscription do you have?

Not collected. The owner is signed in with ChatGPT and has confirmed that the account is correct. No subscription/access diagnosis is inferred.

What platform is your computer?

Windows desktop application. Exact Windows build and architecture have not been independently collected. The desktop UI is in French; the web comparison is in English.

What issue are you seeing?

Existing Codex cloud conversations are missing from the Windows application's sidebar, while the same conversations remain visible and accessible in Chrome at chatgpt.com.

Observed on October 30, 2026:

  • The affected desktop view is Codex, not the regular ChatGPT view.
  • Local agents and local project groups remain visible in the desktop sidebar.
  • The desktop Recents section displays “Aucun chat” (“No chats”); Projects displays “Aucun projet” (“No projects”).
  • In Chrome, Codex Recents lists the existing cloud conversations with cloud icons.
  • Searching in the desktop application for one of the missing cloud conversations displays the warning “Some cloud messages may be missing from search”. A differently titled chat result is shown, so this report does not claim that search returns no results at all.
  • The owner confirms the account is correct and reports no change in their way of working.
  • Restarting has already been tried and did not resolve the problem.

The first time the problem began and whether this particular app update caused it are not established. No loss or deletion of conversation data is established: the web conversations remain accessible.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

Observed on the owner's existing installation; not reproduced on a clean account:

  1. Open the Windows application, version 26.1027.30824, and select the Codex view.
  2. Inspect the sidebar: local agents/groups are present, but the expected cloud conversations are absent and Recents displays “Aucun chat”.
  3. Open Codex at chatgpt.com in Chrome with the account confirmed by the owner.
  4. Observe the existing cloud conversations in the web Recents list and verify they are accessible.
  5. Return to the Windows application and search for one of these conversations; observe the cloud-search warning quoted above.
  6. Restart the application: the owner reports that the symptom persists.

Account correctness has been confirmed by the owner. Exact workspace identifiers and desktop diagnostic logs have not been collected in this cloud session.

What is the expected behavior?

Existing authorized Codex cloud conversations should remain discoverable and accessible from the Windows desktop application.

If the cloud conversation catalog is unavailable or filtered, the app should provide an actionable explanation or recovery path instead of an apparently empty history. Please provide a supported workaround or identify the release that fixes this behavior.

Additional information

Related report: #56249 describes a Windows/web sidebar mismatch that survives restarting, on older app versions. That report explicitly concerns the ChatGPT view; this reproduction concerns Codex on 26.1027.30824. A common underlying cause has not been confirmed.

Screenshots were reviewed to transcribe the relevant UI states. This public report deliberately uses text and omits private conversation/agent titles, conversation identifiers, account addresses, actual local paths, raw logs, and unrelated workspace content.

Submitted with AI assistance at the affected owner's explicit request.
