What subscription do you have?
ChatGPT Pro
What platform is your computer?
Omarchy / Arch Linux Rolling Release, x86_64 (64-bit)
What issue are you seeing?
ChatGPT on Android repeatedly disconnects and reconnects when opening chats on my paired Omarchy PC. A chat begins loading but never loads completely before the connection drops and reconnects.
This previously worked reliably. The problem started a few days before or around October 28, 2026; I am unsure of the exact date. It affects multiple chats, including newer ones. The desktop app works locally.
Android app: 1.2026.293 Android versionCode: 2629319
The same failure reproduces with the desktop app closed and a standalone Codex Remote server running.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
Feedback ID: 856ca5ff-f69d-4df6-bbcc-d7312a5514b7
What is the expected behavior?
The chat should finish loading and remain connected, allowing me to read messages, send follow-ups, and approve actions remotely from the Android app.
Additional information
Reproduction steps:
- Run ChatGPT on the Omarchy PC with Remote enabled.
- Open ChatGPT on the paired Android phone.
- Select the PC and open an existing chat.
- The chat partially loads, then repeatedly disconnects and reconnects without finishing.
Already tried without resolving the problem:
- Rebooting the PC and phone.
- Updating the desktop app.
- Disabling and re-enabling Remote.
- Revoking the pairing and pairing again.
- Force-stopping the Android app and clearing its cache; this briefly helped for a few seconds.
- Uninstalling and reinstalling the Android app.
- Using Wi-Fi, cellular, and a VPN on the phone.
Host debug captures show the PC-to-relay connection remaining connected while Android client sessions repeatedly close and reconnect, roughly every 8–9 seconds during the loop. No fatal server crash is logged. Later thread-resume and history-list handlers finish within milliseconds.
Both captures also contain “dropping turn-scoped item for unknown turn id” warnings during initial chat-history loading; their relationship to the disconnects is unknown.
codex doctor reports passing database integrity and chat-inventory checks, configured authentication, sufficient disk space, and a successful Responses WebSocket handshake. This handshake check is separate from the Remote connection.
Full host and Android captures are available privately if needed. Please investigate the repeated Remote client-session closures.
