Remote-control tunnels use path-based URLs — the share id now travels as wss://playwriter.dev/tunnel/{id}/extension (upstream dials wss://playwriter.dev/tunnel/{id}/upstream), so it no longer leaks through DNS queries or TLS SNI. Subdomain URLs ({id}-tunnel.playwriter.dev) still work so older extensions keep connecting.
```
playwriter session new --remote <id>   # unchanged, now dials the path-based tunnel
```
The relay keys remote dials by the full WebSocket URL, so several shared ids on the path form stay distinct tunnels.
Tab groups on remote-control sessions — shared tabs join a remote group by default, and remote agents can set the group title and color when they connect or later with session update.
```
playwriter session new --remote <id> --tab-group support
playwriter session update 1 --tab-group review --tab-group-color cyan
```

connectViaExtension() Node API — open a Playwriter session, connect over CDP, and close it without posting /cli/session/new yourself.

import { connectViaExtension } from 'playwriter'

const connection = await connectViaExtension({
  tabGroup: 'email-check',
  tabGroupColor: 'grey',
})
const page = await connection.browser.contexts()[0].newPage()
await page.goto('https://example.com')
await connection.close()

tabGroupColor is typed as Chrome's tab group colors. close() closes leftover pages, disconnects CDP, and deletes the session.

vs agent-browser comparison page — new docs page and refreshed comparison tables with Playwriter as the first column. Covers why one programmable execute tool in your real Chrome beats a fixed command-per-action CLI.
Fewer extension connect/disconnect loops and startup hangs on Chrome 153. A late connect() can no longer install its WebSocket over a newer attempt. chrome.storage.local, chrome.identity.getProfileUserInfo, and the high-entropy User-Agent lookup time out after 2s. Debugger detach during startup is bounded so one stuck target cannot stall the restart chain.
Website — “Get Chrome Extension” CTA, page-width heroes with an ASCII video background, sidebar Changelog link to GitHub releases, /changelog redirects, public nav to /login, and a screenshot-2x.png homepage image so Cloudflare no longer 307s @ in the filename.
