v6.6.3 is a patch release recommended for both validators and RPC operators. On the validator side it fixes a memory leak in memiavl snapshot writes (#4007): recursive traversal put the tree path in allocation call stacks, so the heap profiler accumulated a bucket per unique stack and GC flushes grew steadily more expensive. Snapshot durability also improves - a Tree.Copy() race that could publish a truncated leaves file is closed (#4050), and snapshots are now validated before the current symlink is moved (#4053).
For RPC operators, this release adds freeze mode for historical EVM RPC (#3978), which holds a node at an upgrade boundary while continuing to serve state and keeping it out of mempool gossip (#4006), plus the frozen RPC router that fans block-scoped requests to the matching frozen node (#4024). Two hardening fixes round it out: nested EIP-1898 block references are capped at 16 levels to stop quadratic parse time (#4034), and router JSON-RPC batches are bounded with a write timeout for slow clients (#4048).
Upgrade guidance: recommended for RPC, full-node operators and validators.
No state-machine or consensus-breaking changes.
