Desktop import dialog: files inside the chosen folder cannot be selected

Version: 0.27.4, macOS desktop app (AFFiNE.app from Homebrew cask), self-hosted server.

What happened

In the desktop app, Import → Markdown files (.md):

  1. The native dialog opens on the folder. Files inside it are greyed out and cannot be selected at all — only the folder itself is selectable (fits acceptType: 'Directory', packages/frontend/core/src/desktop/dialogs/import/index.tsx:357-363).
  2. Selecting the folder and pressing Upload returns: Import failure — No importable documents were found in the selected file.
  3. Also checked an .md with a fully valid name (pitfalls.md, 25 397 bytes, UTF-8, mode 644): it is not selectable either.
  4. Dragging the folder or the file into the app window does not start an import.

So on the desktop there is no way to import a single markdown file or a folder with one file — the dialog asks for a directory, gets one, and then reports that nothing importable was found.

What works instead: the same import in the web app on the same server. There the format list is wider (Markdown files, Markdown with media files (.zip), Obsidian Vault (Experimental), Notion, Docx, Snapshot) and files can be picked.

Expected: if the dialog expects a directory, the folder should be imported with its .md files; if it expects files, they should be selectable.

Environment

  • macOS 15.7.3, AFFiNE.app 0.27.4 (CFBundleShortVersionString), cask affine
  • server: self-hosted Docker on http://localhost:3010, workspace connected via "Self-hosted AFFiNE"
