V's own bootstrap does not build on Windows on current master or any revision tried back to weekly.2026.41. Three distinct failures, all inside V's bootstrap before any downstream code is reached:
| revision | failure |
|---|---|
| V master | vlib/os/os_stat_windows.c.v:112: 'S_IFMT' undeclared |
532f63b6d2 | vlib/math/bits/bits.v:621 — bootstrap can't parse the if-expression |
weekly.2026.41 | src.c:13373: conflicting types for 'v_os_exec_capture_start' |
C.S_IFMT has been in V since Feb 2024 (os: add os.stat() and helpers,
205f2ddd30), so this is not a missing feature — it is a regression in how
the Windows stat helpers / bits module / exec capture are compiled on recent
revisions.
Impact: every CI job in vlang/coreutils (and any other repo tracking V master by name) has been red for this reason. Pinning the V revision (see vlang/coreutils#261) cannot fix it because all three revisions fail.
Reproduction: checkout any of the three revisions above on Windows and run
v self (or the coreutils winos-test bootstrap step). No downstream code
is involved.
This was surfaced while triaging vlang/coreutils PRs; full evidence in vlang/coreutils#261.
