Version: msgvault v0.21.0 (commit 598ca5c), Linux amd64 release binary. Source: IMAP (Dovecot 2.3.21), add-imap --no-tls, sync-full.
Summary: For an HTML-only message (no text/plain part) whose HTML contains an element hidden by inline CSS (display:none; max-height:0; overflow:hidden), the derived text body includes the hidden text as if it were visible. show-message, search --json snippets and the MCP tool get_message (reported as body_format: "text") all return it without any marker. Since the MCP instructions treat archived content as untrusted data, this still matters: an agent cannot tell that a passage was invisible to the human reader, which is the classic shape of an e-mail prompt injection.
Steps to reproduce:
msgvault init-db && msgvault add-imap --host <imap> --username <user> …(any IMAP server), then APPEND the message below into a folder (e.g. with any mail client oropenssl s_client/nc), thenmsgvault sync <account>.msgvault search "Zählerablesung" --json→ note the messageid.msgvault show-message <id>or MCPget_message {"id": <id>}.

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, ich wende mich wegen der Heizkörper an Sie.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen(the ö is a separate charset problem, reported in a second issue).
Expected: hidden elements (display:none, visibility:hidden, font-size:0, max-height:0; overflow:hidden, opacity:0, off-screen positioning, text colour equal to background) are either dropped from the derived text or kept but flagged, e.g. a boolean hidden_text_present in get_message/search results and a one-line warning in show-message. Dropping plus flag is what I would prefer for the MCP path, because the agent then sees exactly what the human sees and additionally learns that something was hidden.
Why it matters for MCP users: The server instructions say archived content is untrusted data, which is good, but a model reading a thread cannot distinguish a visible sentence from an invisible one; the invisible one is precisely where injected instructions live. A flag lets the client (or a policy layer) refuse to act on such messages or show the user a warning.
Happy to test a fix against the same message.
