Slay the Spire 2 (Steam) hangs on black screen: four threads spin at 100%, no window or frames

Hi! Really hoping someone can help with this.

What's happening Slay the Spire 2 never gets past a black screen for me. JIT + Memory+ are both green and the Wine window opens fine, but the game never actually creates its own window or draws a frame. The first time I tried, Madeira eventually closed itself. The second time I left it running for 6+ minutes and nothing changed.

My setup

  • iPhone 18 Pro Max on iOS 27.0.1
  • Madeira v0.1.3 (official release IPA), sideloaded with SideStore on a free Apple ID
  • Memory+ added to the App ID before installing
  • JIT via the built-in StikJIT, paired in Madeira
  • madeira.cfg on defaults
  • Slay the Spire 2 is the Steam version, installed through Madeira Dock

What the logs show I turned on Extended logging and took two screenshots about 4 minutes apart (attached). From what I can tell:

  • Four threads (00ac, 00b0, 00b8, 00bc) are maxing out a core each the whole time, with almost identical numbers in both screenshots
  • The main thread (m1350281) sits at 0% and just polls (waitN + yield at 120/s)
  • rdKB=0 and pres 0/0, so no file reads and no frames
  • Memory stays flat at around 2,460 to 2,470 MB
  • The window list only has "Default IME" and one tiny invisible window, so the game window never appears
  • CS_DEBUGGED is set, so JIT looks fine

A couple of the lines: [xp] 12:46:36.374 +365.88 dt=323 cpu=1292 (thr 1292) P=644 E=649 run=1301 pgw=0.0 GHz P=4.75 E=2.63 Minst=1667 IPC=0.35 mJ=1572 pin=0 rdKB=0 fpMB=2473 | pres 0/0 thr=0.0 ecl 0/0.0 sig 0/0... It looks to me like it's stuck spinning early in startup rather than loading slowly (maybe something in the .NET side of Godot?), but you'll know better than me.

What I've tried

  • An override.cfg next to the exe forcing D3D12 (rendering_device/driver.windows="d3d12"). No change, which makes sense since it hangs before there's a window.
  • Turning Fast synchronization off. Also no change.

Questions

  1. Are Godot .NET games like Slay the Spire 2 expected to work yet?
  2. Is there anything else worth trying (CPU core count, a different sync engine etc.)?
  3. If it's not supported yet, would it be possible to show a message rather than a black screen that never loads?

Happy to test builds or send full logs if that'd help. Let me know what you need!
