Trylle Homebrew tap

Homebrew formulae for Trylle, including the official try CLI.

brew tap trylle-labs/tap https://trylle.com/trylle/homebrew-tap
brew install trylle-labs/tap/trylle-cli

The formula installs both try and trylle-cli. Pre-built bottles cover these platforms, so installing there does not compile Rust:

  • macOS 26 or later on Apple silicon
  • Linux on x86_64
  • Linux on arm64

Other platforms, such as macOS 15 or Intel Macs, build from the crates.io source automatically.

Upgrade with brew upgrade trylle-labs/tap/trylle-cli or try version update.

NOTE

Tap the full URL above. The tap is hosted on Trylle, and a bare brew tap trylle-labs/tap would look for it on GitHub instead.

Releasing

Once a trylle-cli version is on crates.io, run this locally:

scripts/release.sh 1.3.1

The script does three things:

  1. It pushes the signed tag trylle-cli-<version>.
  2. It dispatches .github/workflows/bottles.yaml on Trylle CI and watches it. The workflow builds, tests and bottles the formula on macOS arm64, Linux x86_64 and Linux arm64. It then uploads the bottles and their manifests to the trylle-cli-<version> release of this repository.
  3. It verifies every bottle and the crates.io source against their checksums. Then it writes Formula/trylle-cli.rb with the bottle block and pushes one signed commit.

CI never commits to this repository; every tag and commit is signed locally. To check that a version builds without tagging or uploading anything, dispatch the workflow with dry_run:

try ci dispatch .github/workflows/bottles.yaml -R trylle/homebrew-tap -f version=1.3.0 -f dry_run=true --watch
