Upd
Upd.dev is code hosting for people who still love code: free as in freedom, free as in beer.
Push code, ship releases, and serve packages on a platform that stays fast, stays stable, and stays out of your way. The engine is Forgejo, the diffs come from Pierre, and the mission is simple: a real sanctuary away from GitHub and the rest of big tech.
This repository contains upd-forgejo, Upd's hard fork of Forgejo, with
extensive product, performance, and interface changes.
A smaller, quieter forge
There was a time when GitHub felt like home: a social network for geeks and a place for genuine inspiration and discovery. Then came the noise. As the platform grew, finding real peers and software worth running became harder.
Upd is a smaller, quieter place where creating a repository means something again. It is built independently by professionals who love the craft and control every detail:
- Visual clarity: Pierre's diff rendering engine and TX-02 Berkeley Mono™ make reviews fast and readable.
- Beyond Git: Upd serves packages for Go, Rust, Arch, and many other ecosystems directly from your repositories.
- Resilient infrastructure: The hosted service is geo-distributed across US and EU regions, with continuous monitoring, database clusters, multi-layered caching, and cloud backups.
- Radical transparency: Upd does not merely host open source; the platform itself is open source and self-hosted in this repository.
Our promise
Upd hosts many distinct communities, each with its own values and rules. Therefore, there is no global Code of Conduct or global stance on AI usage. Bring your tools, your workflow, and your judgment, and follow the rules of the specific project you are contributing to.
